Operations:
- Make sure the battery is on the ‘off=0″ position. See pict. “Battery”
- Attach the remote control to your handlebar. See picture “Remote Control”
- Remove the sweeper kickstand rod from underneath the sweeper and snap it into the brackets underneath the tow bar. See pict. Secure the tow bar to the Burley adapter attached to the rear axle of your bicycle on its kickstand, with both tires properly inflated. See pict. “Kickstand On” and “Kickstand Off”
- Slide the black rubber connector into the slot that matches your bicycle rear wheel diameter, which must be between 22 and 28 inches (600C to 700 C). See pict “Hitch Setup”. Secure the clevis pin through the Burley connector and hte tow bar with their respective cotter pins. Note that the advertised ‘wheel size’ does not always indicate the correct outer diameter. It is recommended to measure the outside tire diameter for precise positioning. See pict “Tire Diameter”. The front guard should be about 3 inches (8 cm) from the ground for proper operations. See pic. “Front Clearance”
- Turn the battery “on=1”. Observe the blinking orange lights in the back.
- Get on the bike and start sweeping by pressing the ‘on’ button on the remote control.
When you are done sweeping:
- Turn off the battery.
- Detach the sweeper tow bar from the Burley connector.
- Set the sweeper on its kickstand. Leaving the brush rest directly on the ground will permanently damage the bristles.
- Remove excess debris and dust from all surfaces, brush and wheels axles, dry off any wet parts.
- Plug in the battery using the provided charger. It takes about 6 hours to go from fully depleted to full charge.
Recommendations for safe and effective sweeping:
- Do not use or store the sweeper in rainy conditions. Rain or overly wet debris may damage several components and reduce the sweeper’s lifespan.
- To maximize the brush lifespan and minimize the towing effort, adjust the turnbuckle to reduce the brush pressure on the ground.as much as possible. When you tow the sweeper with your bicycle’s motor turned off and the sweeper brush turned on, it should be easy to pull the sweeper. It there is too much resistance or if you hear the brush having difficulty to spin there is too much downward pressure. See picture above “Turnbuckle”.
- Sweeping speed should be between 5 and 10 mph (8 to 15 kmh), depending on terrain. When the brush is turned off, limit the towing speed to 15 mph (23 kmh)
- Vertical clearance is about 3 inches (7 cm). Proceed very slowly and cautiously over train tracks, speed bumps, uneven surfaces or any large objects.
- Be aware of the width of the overall sweeper, do not ride close to other riders or near walls or barriers.
- Avoid large debris accumulation or thick piles of leaves, which may cause the motor to stall and shorten its lifespan. Use a shovel instead!
- Total towing time is about 90 minutes on a battery full charge. Turn the brush off from the handlebar remote control when not actively sweeping to extend battery life.
Maintenance and Support
You must periodically perform basic maintenance on your sweeper to ensure proper operation.
- Inflate both rear wheels between 30 and 35 PSI
- Oil (e.g. wd-40) the wheels axles and bearings, as well as the brush axle pillow bearing. Check for excessive play between the wheels/brush axles and their bearings.
- Adjust the brush pressure into the ground with the turnbuckle, the lighter the pressure, while preserving effective sweeping, the better!
- Visually inspect the brush, the battery pack , the motor controller box (Black plastic box in the rear, underneath the rail) and report any defect to the sweeper’s owner.
